Evidence Management & Storage

Our Chicago area based facility near Naperville, IL, offers secure case related evidence management and artifact storage, with 24/7 video surveillance, and controlled access to the artifact storage area. We also have an on-site laboratory to support most artifacts and evidence testing and analysis investigations along with the appropriate tools, cameras and microscopes.  This allows for hosting multi-party inspections of artifacts and evidence.

We maintain the appropriate licensure to store small or large artifacts related to the cases we are involved with, from small samples to large vehicles, and provide full chain of custody documentation.  Illinois law requires an Illinois Private Detective or Agency license to store such evidence:

225 ILCS 447 – Article 5 General Provisions. Sec. 5-10. Definitions
“Private Detective” means any person who by any means, including, but not limited to manual, canine odor detection, or electronic methods, engages in the business of, accepts employment to furnish, or agrees to make or makes investigations for a fee or other consideration to obtain information relating to:
(6) Securing evidence to be used before any court, board, or investigating body.”

225 ILCS 447 – Article 10 General Licensing Provisions. Sec. 10-5. Requirement of license:
(a) It is unlawful for a person to act as or provide the functions of a private detective.
